I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina as well as a Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™). I am also registered as a Professional Counselor Telehealth Provider in South Carolina.

I received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill in 2007 and a master's degree in Couple and Family Counseling from the University of North Carolina- Greensboro in 2010.

In addition to counseling, I love gardening, spending time with my husband and two kids, hiking, a warm cup of tea, and walks with friends.

Therapeutic Approach

Counseling is a collaborative process between therapist and client. My approach is strengths-based, focusing on helping clients build upon their unique abilities. It is also holistic, exploring the emotional, mental, physical, social, and spiritual aspects of each individual.

To address the unique needs of each client, I use various therapeutic modalities including person-centered therapy, family systems theory, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Attachment Theory. I value meeting someone where they are to provide a personalized therapeutic experience.

With children, I use Play Therapy to help them process their experiences, learn emotion-regulation skills, grow in confidence, and develop problem-solving abilities. Play provides a developmentally-appropriate language for children to communicate their thoughts, needs, desires, and feelings. This contributes to a safe and supportive environment for expressing themselves freely.

The therapeutic approach of Journey and Light Counseling is grounded in evidence-based clinical interventions and a biblical worldview. That said, I welcome anyone seeking counseling, regardless of religious background.

Reaching out for support is a courageous step, and I am grateful for the opportunity to journey with you toward hope and healing.
